Yin-yang bodice and sleeves in orange, red and green adorned with Sparkle signature lambskin Mandarin collar and cuffs in fuchsia radiate with a happy and celebratory vibe.
This pattern is a collaboration between Sparkle Collection and HK Museum of Art (HKMoA), adapted from world-revered Chinese contemporary artist Hon Chi-fun’s famous silkscreen “Flower Rain” which circles and squares are used to symbolize the self, while imitating the wonders of nature.
Hon Chi-fun was one of Hong Kong’s most revered visual artists, and played a pivotal role in building Hong Kong’s art ecology. He had a unique approach to addressing issues of culture, identity and philosophy in his work. For Hon, to be a Hong Kong artist was to remain porous and question boundaries between cultures, mediums, and within the self.
The painting “Flower rain” is an iconic representation of Hon Chi-fun’s abstract style. Filled with rich and vibrant colours, circles and squares are used to symbolize the self, while imitating the wonders of nature. Within the semicircles are expressive brushstrokes of calligraphy, bringing Oriental elements and Chinese imagery into Western art forms, merging East and West.
Painting: “Flower Rain” by Hon Chi-fun (花雨)(韓志勳)
